Silhouette Tutorial - Print and Cut by Jamie

Hi!  It's Jamie back with you today sharing a tutorial for creating a print and cut with your Silhouette dies!  I am using one of my favorite cuts, the Blooming Woodland Daisy from Samantha Walker.

Step #1:  Open the Silhouette die within your Silhouette Studio Software and resize the item.

Step #2:  Ungroup the items by going to 'Object' and selecting the 'Ungroup' option.

Step #3:  You will see separate boxes around each of the items.
Step #4:  Select the grass and stem area then click on the 'Open the Fill Color Window' shown in the red circle to open the fill colors.

Step #5:  Select a fill color of your choice.

Step #6:  Click on the petals section and select a fill color of your choice.

Step #7:  Click on the center section of the flower and select a fill color of your choice.

Step #8:  Click on 'Edit' and 'Select All'

Step #9:  Group the items back together by selecting 'Object' then 'Group'.
Step #10:  Click on the 'Open the Registration Mark Settings Window' and click the Show Reg Marks box.  This will show the registration marks on your page.

Step #11:  Click on the 'Open the Cut Style Window' and select 'Cut Edge'.

Step #12:  Click on 'File' then 'Page Setup'.

Step #13:  Change your page to 8-1/2" x 11" (unless you have a large format printer that will handle 12x12).  Click 'OK'.

Step #14:  Click on the printer icon to send the print to the printer.

Step #15:  Select your printer and click 'Print'.

Step #16:  Once your page prints, click on the 'Send to Silhouette' icon.

Step #17:  Follow the instructions on the screen and then click on 'Continue'

Step #18: Place your print on your mat as shown on your screen.

Step #19: Load your paper then click on 'Detect Automatically' and your Silhouette machine will scan your page for your marks.

Step #20: Set you cutting setting to match your paper then click 'Cut'.

Step #21: Remove your pieces from your mat and create!

Creative Team Member spotlight Jennifer Ingle

Cuckoo Clock Card created with Cuckoo clocks stamp set by Samantha Walker for Unity Stamp Co. Papers are the Kokeshi collection by Samantha Walker for Creative Imaginations.
I have the privilege of sharing the work of Jennifer Ingle with you today. She is such a fun spirited member of my creative team. Her designs always have an innovative twist.  She not only works with paper...but also fabric in her one of a kind art dolls, which she affectionately names.  I asked Jennifer a few questions about herself and here is how she responded:
Ice Cream card was created with "The Sweet Life" Stamp set by Samantha Walker for Unity Stamp company. Papers are from the Heidi collection for Creative Imaginations.
Q.  What is your favorite Technique?

That's a hard question, but I think lately it has really been paper piecing.  I love cutting out the tiny pieces from various papers and putting them back together like a little puzzle and the results are just too fun!

Butterfly card was created with "Be You" Itty Bitty by Samantha Walker for Unity Stamp Company. Paper is from the Blossom collection by Samantha Walker for Creative Imaginations.
Q.  Where did you learn to design?

Well, I've been making stuff since I developed fine motor skills, pretty much, so I'm not sure if I can define where I learned to design.  I pick up new techniques by looking at the art of others, working with new supplies, and coming up with ideas and then trying to find a way to make them work.  I am constantly learning in every aspect of my life and since my creative life is such a huge part of who I am, learning and growth is something I am always striving for.

Flower card was created with paper and stickers from the Blossom collection by Samantha Walker for Creative Imaginations.
Q.  What influence your design choices?

Product.  I think that might be a horrible answer, but it's true!  When I get a new product in my hand, be that a fresh pack of paper clay, some great new patterned papers, a set of stamps, or a vial of vintage buttons from the antique shop it generally spurs me on to create something!  I am pushed by my desire to try out new things and make them work in my own way.

Doll was created with Wanna Be a Cowboy fabric collection by Samantha Walker for Riley Blake Designs
Q.  Who are your artsy inspirations?

Well, she will kill me for saying this, but Eva Dobilas is an amazing card maker and I am constantly inspired by her work.  Becky Shander  and Terry Stevens are wonderful mixed media artists and Rachel Wetzel and Abi Monroe are some really inspiring art doll artists.  I could keep going, as there are so many fabulous people out there creating so many fabulous things!

Organdy Ribbon card was created with the Heidi collection by Samantha Walker for Creative Imaginations.
Q.  What do you enjoy doing besides crafting?

There is stuff other than crafting???  HA!  No, really, I love to read and I collect children's literature.  I like to make cupcakes when I have time and I absolutely LOVE hanging out with my fabulous Hubbums and my two beautiful black labs, Maggie and Thatcher.

Ear rings were created with shrinky dink film. They were stamped with the Kokeshi stamp set by Samantha Walker for Unity Stamp Company.

Sympathy card was created with Encompassed Grace stamp set by Samantha Walker for Unity StampCo.
Jennifer has such a fun blog as she writes from the heart and her delightful personality shines through.  You will have to visit her blog frequently.

A to Z Collection! Sneak Peeks!

Are you ready for some sneak peeks???  I sure am!!!  Truthfully...I'm about to burst because I'm so excited about this Summer's CHA releases!

The first collection I'm going to share with you is called A to Z, and will be available through Creative Imaginations. This collection is comprised of 8 double sided cardstocks with themed fronts and coordinating pattern backsides. There are also three 12X12 cardstock sticker sheets that include borders, alphabets, tags, tabs, and journaling spots. There is also one 5X12 sticker sheet with fun elements from the themed papers.

I tried to create a retro feel with a fresh twist that could span many grades for use with all of your school aged kids. You will note that both a cursive and a Roman letters alphabet paper are included, flashcards, and graph paper...the collection will go far for a school album for your entire family--hitting on themes that transcend every grade. My palette was inspired by my first crayon box...with a set of 8 bright, bold and clear colors--one for every color of the rainbow.

In addition to this collection, I've got lots of coordinating products through three popular manufacturers.  If you are going to the show, look for coordinates through Creative Imaginations, Spellbinders, and Unity Stamps...and online you'll find coordinating digital die cuts through the Silhouette Machine store. In the Silhouette store, you will find each of my illustrated alphabet letter representations available as cutting files, as well as the schoolhouse, the trees and more!  At this time, these files can only be purchased used by crafters using the Silhouette Machine.
