Lemonade Stand Layout with Christine!

Hi Samantha Walker fans!  Christine joining you for a fun weekend post!  One of my favorite things about the Summer Lovin' line from Samantha and Carta Bella is that it included some moments that get left out of a lot of summer lines, but lots of us experience.  I knew I wanted to make use of the lemonade stand stuff to document my kiddos and their stands from the last two years!  I figure now that summer is wrapping up I better get some of these memories committed to layouts!

I went for an 8 1/2 X 11 base this time and layered papers onto a green cardstock background.  I left a  little of that to peek out underneath the colorful vertical stripes. I lined up my pictures (one from each year) vertically on some more green cardstock.

I fussy cut out a giant chevron from patterned paper and added that as a focal point in the base.  I really like how it plays off of the colorful vertical stripes!

Coordinating stickers and wood pieces make up a few clusters around the layout but otherwise I kept it clean and simple.  I can't believe these summer days are already wrapped up and we're on to the next season of Back to School and Fall!

Thanks for joining us today and have a great weekend!

Summer Gift Card And Basket Set with Pinky!

Hey friends, it's Pinky today with a fun summer project-
I have so many reasons to give out small gifts in the summer and beginning
of the school year. Here in TN we start school in the very beginning
of August so the line is blurred for summer and school.
The Samantha Walker digi cut files make fantastic gift giving ideas.
This one I created with a gift card holder and a basket for treats!
Using your Silhouette and the Samantha Walker Basket Scalloped Circle With Daisy
file with the SW Carta Bella Summer Lovin' paper CUT  one- I use the deep cut settings.
Using the Samantha Walker Gift Card Holder Coin Purse file
with the SW Carta Bella Summer Lovin' paper CUT one making sure paper is
in the right direction.

Before folding and assembling basket and card holder- add Liquid Pearls
around edges wherever desired.
After allowing to dry assemble basket.
On this one I did not have coordinating brads so I rubbed Liquid Pearls on
the brads themselves to make them match.
For the daisy- I cut the daisy as you normally would with the
Silhouette however I took the largest one apart and individually assembled
the petals to add dimension using glue dots.
Then I layered the daisy with foam dots.
Add large wired bow.
 Layer on daisy floral creation.
Assemble Coin Purse Gift Card Holder- add pearls onto brads.
The only thing I diverted from on the Gift Card Holder- was I added a ribbon handle to
like a purse which i thought was pretty darn cute!
Add sticker embellishments from the SW Carta Bella Summer Lovin'
and your teacher or friend is ready to receive cookies, or candy with a gift card!
Love the summer vibe and feel too!

Dress card by Diana

Hello! Diana Fisher here with you today to share a tutorial on how to make this darling dress card from one of Samantha Walker's newest dress Silhouette files.

After you download the studio file, separate the pieces and set them into separate corners on your mat. You can then load all of the paper at once and make one cut.

You can see here that I choses a palm tree pattern paper from Samantha Walker's collection Summer Lovin' from Carta Bella for my dress pieces, cream card stock for the dress base and a green card stock that matches the palm trees for the dress straps and center accent.

After I cut them, here is what they look like off of the mat.

After assembled, here is the pretty little dress. I resized this to just a little over three inches wide so it will fit the card, so you can image how small and cute it is assembled here.

I want the dress to pop off of the card, but not be all alone on a white card base, so I get to work making a background with a large background stamp. I also cut a label using my die cutter to anchor the dress to the card.

For a final touch, I tie some gold twine around the waist of the dress and then use foam adhesive to pop up the label off the card base and then the dress off the label.

The finished card is just perfect for sending a quick "thinking of you" note to a friend.

Summertime Bookmarks by Diana

Hello! Diana Fisher here with you today. I don't know about you, but something about summertime calls for a paper book. The other nine months out of the year I am all set with my Kindle, but in the sun, I want paper.

Since I don't always read paperbacks, I didn't have a bookmark last month when I stocked up on books. I've been using a Travis Hafner Cleveland Indians baseball card to keep my page. Obviously loaned to me by my eight-year-old son.

Today I decided no more baseball card (sorry, Travis). Using the perfect summer collection, Summer Lovin' from Carta Bella by Samantha Walker, I whipped up these three bookmarks for my summer reading. (Yes, three. I tend to read more than one at a time, and I will also lose one at some point.)

To get started, I gathered my trimmer, a tag punch, twine and the Summer Lovin' papers and stickers. If you do not have a tag punch, you can also use a regular hole punch (as seen above).

I started with a two inch wide strip cut from a piece of scrap paper. Because I chose a piece of scrap paper, the length ended up being 6.75".  It is up to you how long you would want your bookmark to be.

After I had the bookmarks cut, I started layering stickers and designs onto my bookmarks. At the end, I threaded the hole at the top with twine.

At first I loved the flamingo, but the more I worked with them, I am loving the green one in the middle. The one on the end is perfect for camping reading, I think.

Thanks for stopping today to see my bookmark tutorial. What a great way to use your scrap paper and those stickers that might never make it onto a layout.

Frame Mini Album with Cathy!

Hi!  So glad to have you join us today, it's Cathy hosting the blog.  I have a simple and quick mini album to share with you today that I created for my teenage daughter.  Samantha Walker's new Carta Bella Collection Summer Lovin' is so much fun and perfect for preserving my daughter's summer time memories.  Her plan is to add lots of 3x3 instagram photos.

I purchased the fun frame at Michaels and removed the inside plastic pieces that hold the photo in.  I then cut the journaling card paper into 12 pieces and punched two holes through the whole stack with my crop-o-dile.  Next, add two one inch binding rings through all of them and hang from the top of the frame.  Easy peasy!

All you have left to do now, is to decorate the frame!
I cut three flowers using two of Samantha's rolled flower files.  I used the Summer Lovin' 6x6 pad for these.  Note: I only ended up using two of these on the frame.
I love how quickly these flowers go together...just roll around a pencil and glue with some super tacky glue.  I used Helmar's Quick Dry adhesive.

Click on the photos below to go right to these files in the Silhouette Online Store.

I glued the flower on and added a few stickers from the Summer Lovin' collection.

It's a super fun and fast project.  My daughter loves it!

Thanks for joining us today at Samantha Walker!

Keepin' Cool Card Tutorial By Pinky

Hey there friends,
It's Pinky today with a card tutorial for all those fun summer memories.
Perfect for cards, layouts or whatever craft you are working on.
I combined the Summer Lovin' 6X6 paper pad with her great Silhouette
Digital Cut Files and created this.

Using die cut machine and pink paper from paper pad-
cut out doily shape at 5". Trim out 9X6" white card stock for card base and
bone fold in half. Cover front with green paper from paper pad.

Trim out Flamingo paper at 3.5X5" adhere to front of card over green.
Run digital cut doily through sticker maker- adhere to top
and bottom of card and trim off excess. (Cut slightly smaller than half).
Created paper pinwheels- adhere to card using bright colorful buttons.
Add ribbons- trim out "Keepin' Cool" quote from paper
strip Summer Lovin' 6X6 paper pad adhere to front as shown.
It's not hard to coordinate all these amazing patterned papers
into a card you can be proud of!

Sunny Shaker Box Layout with Cathy

Hi Samantha Walker fans!  Cathy here to share a layout with you featuring an adorable baby girl, Samantha Walker's Carta Bella Collection Summer Lovin' and a couple of Samantha's Silhouette files.  I used the Sunny Word Logo Set #10879 and Scalloped Circle Border Set #9359 to create this bright and sunny layout. I did another shaker box layout for the Creative Team blog hop this month with a square shaker box, you can find that tutorial here.  You can make a shaker out almost any shape, just by adding layers of card stock in the basic shape of your cut.

I cut the Sunny first out of the white background paper...don't remove the mat yet, and offset your title, switch the blade out for a Silhouette Sketch pen and send it through again.  I backed my negative cut title with the super cute flamingo paper from the Summer Lovin' Collection.

Next, I cut my sun and border out of yellow card stock.  Ungroup the sun and you will be able to remove the swirl.  The sun without the swirl will be the back of your shaker box.

Again, don't remove your mat, but you can delete the bottom sun and border from your screen.  Now, do an internal offset of the sun and then change the line to a dash. Switch your blade out again for a Silhouette Sketch pen (make sure to remove the original sun so that you just have the dotted line) and send it back through!

Next, cut a few circles out of yellow card stock.  These build the depth for your shaker box so that you can add sequins and such.

After they are cut, glue them all together to for a stacked circle.

Somehow I deleted a photo step here, sorry! Just glue this ring to the solid sun, fill with sequins and add the swirly cut sun that you lined with clear plastic so that your sequins stay put.

I love this adorable photo of Kate at the beach with the Sunny title and shaker box....it highlights her personality so well. She brings sunshine wherever she goes.

Thanks for joining us today at Samantha Walker, we can't wait to see what you create!
