I just had a blast finishing up a set of Spring projects for Janome featuring an embroidery file that I designed...and now I get to share them with you.
I first designed the retro flower in adobe illustrator, then brought it over to my Janome Artistic Suite software to digitize my vector artwork into an embroidery file that I could use with my
Janome MC15000 embroidery/sewing/quilting machine and my
Artistic Edge cutter. I designed the embroidery with a few different rows of satin stitching, and changed up the width of the stitches so it was more delicate with the flower in the center, and heavier on the scallop borders where you can appliqué the design with different colors of fabric to add interest to the design.
I was so happy with the way it turned out.
When you have a shape you really love, why don’t you try to get the most milage out of it, by using it in a few different ways?
...And that's just what I did. I made three different projects with the design, and wrote tutorials for each project that use different techniques for a variety of looks.
The T-shirt will walk you through using your cutting machine to cut fabric for applique, and how to place it in order for it to appliqué perfect every time.
The cake pin cushion will show you a few imaginitive ways to embellish a project, and creative use of the flower to create the look of a frosted cake.
The flower card instructions will go over some basic features in Simple Cut or Creative DRAWings in the Artistic suite, that you can use to create a card base that you can save to use in future projects. You will learn how to create a dashed fold line and learn how to mirror an object.
To make these tutorials even sweeter...
I'd like to give the flower embroidery file to you...
FREE!
All you have to do is visit the project pages over at
Janome and download the free file with the free project instructions.
Here are the direct links to the three projects pictured above.
As always...if you ever complete a project using my instructions or designs, please share your project photos with me. I love to see what YOU do! It always makes my day when you do!
Keep on crafting!
