Hi there, it's Eva here today with a fun tutorial. If you came joined us in this month's blog hop, you have seen my little fabric owl. Well, since so many of you loved it and even asked if I would have a tutorial for it, I decided why not? Sure hope you enjoy this. As I mentioned in my original post, I saw this owl on Pinterest, so I had to create the pattern for it myself, and I am sharing it with you, so you can just print it out and have fun at it. Here is what you will make.
So, let's begin. All you need is fabric, thread, buttons, scissors, hot glue gun and little flowers for embellishment. Of course in this case I used Samantha's Riley Blake fabrics.
Here is the pattern. Just click on the picture, save and print. It should come out as the size I made it in.
Here are the items I used to create this owl.
First step is to cut out all the pieces. After working on my project I realized I missed the beak of the owl, however it is in the downloadable pattern, so you won't miss a thing.
Next you need to sew the orange fabric piece on with blanket stitch. If you don't know how to do that, I did a little google search and found this for you, just in case. Blanket stitch tutorial
Next you do the same with the eyes.
Than it's time to stitch the beak on. I only used one stitch, just to secure it, as my eyes will be stitched over it anyway.
Time to sew the eyes on. I used regular stitches for that.
Than add the button eyes and you can see this owl come alive...fun isn't she?
For stuffing you can use all kinds of things, I didn't have anything special, so I just used some cotton makeup remover pads.
And here is what she looks like stuffed....LOL
Finally to create the bow, I folded the circle in quarter and hot glued it, so it stayed like these two and just glued them on her and added the little flowers. If you want you can trim the bow a little bit, as it seemed a little big for my owl. Remember, this pattern was very organic, kind of evolved, as I worked with it.
And here she is all finished with her BFF. Aren't they cute????
Well, hope you enjoyed this tutorial. Hope you create one of these little guys and if you do, I sure would love to see. ENJOY!
I love this Eva, I think it would be adorable on the front of a card or candy wrapper!
